타란툴라 사육의 역사 이야기 Text link (Google Drive)
저는 타란툴라를 키우기와 곤충표본 모으기를 취미로 하고 있습니다. 타란툴라 사육은 취미생활의 종류를 분류할 때 곤충사육, 곤충표본 등과 함께 ‘벌레질’에 해당하는 취미입니다. 비록 병역의 의무 로 인해 꽤 긴 공백기가 있기는 했지만, 단순히 기간만 따지면 입문한지 14년 정도 되는 중견 사육자 임에도 사회적인 시선이 그다지 좋지 못한 취미인 탓에 밖에서는 타란툴라를 키운다고 당당하게 얘기하지 못하고 있습니다.
타란툴라 사육 취미는 국내에서 잘 알려지지 않았고, 시장의 규모로도 마이너 중의 마이너 시장을 벗어나지 못하고 있습니다. 하지만 전 세계적으로는 50년, 국내로 한정하더라도 20년이 넘는, 꽤 긴 역사를 가진 취미입니다. 그런 긴 역사에도 불구하고 많은 정보들이 체계적으로 정리되지 못한 채 소 수의 사육자를 통해서 구전되고 있고, 대중적으로 접할 수 있어야 할 정보들도 누군가에 의해 글이라 는 형태로 정리되거나 알려지지 않은 경우가 많습니다. 타란툴라 사육의 역사 역시 대중적으로 잘 알 려질 수 있음에도 그렇지 못한 대표적인 주제입니다. 지금까지 많은 분들이 타란툴라 취미 시장의 역 사에 대해서 궁금해하셨지만, 전 세계적으로도 타란툴라 사육 취미의 역사에 대해 정리된 자료가 드 물고, 더 지엽적인 국내의 타란툴라 취미의 역사에 대해서는 더욱 자료가 부족한 실정이었습니다.

Report on the undescribed flightless Lucanidae species of New Guinea (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea: Lucanidae)
뉴기니의 미기재 보행성 사슴벌레 1종의 보고 (딱정벌레목: 풍뎅이상과: 사슴벌레과) Text link (Google Drive, English)
The undescribed flightless Lucanidae species from New Guinea is reported under the provisional name, Pelekysaegus. Pelekysaegus shows morphological similarities between Pachistaegus de Lisle, Tumidaegus Bomans, Cherasphorus Bomans, Microlucanus Bomans & Bartolozzi, and Gnaphaloryx furfuraceus (de Lisle). The species has not been assigned to any currently recognized Lucanidae genera. Further studies are required to describe the new species and determine its taxonomic placement. Additionally, the wing atrophy of Cherasphorus inflatus Bomans is discovered.

Coprophanaeus (Olsoufieff, 1924): dardanus 종군 소개 -두 상반된 견해를 중심으로- Text link (Google Drive)
Coprophanaeus 속은 1924년 G. Olsoufieff에 의해, Sulcophanaeus 속과 함께 Phanaeus 속 으로부터 분리된 종군이다. 이들은 이마방패 (Clypeus) 말단에 돌기가 두 개 튀어나오는 특유의 생 김새 덕에 다른 Phanaeini 와 쉽게 구분할 수 있으며, 구대륙의 뿔소똥구리를 연상시키는 외형이나 ‘Copro-’라는 속명의 접두어가 무색하게도 실제로는 동물의 사체에 모여드는 Necrophaga의 특성 이 강한 것으로 알려져 있다.
하지만 수집가들에게 인기가 많은 Megaphanaeus (Olsoufieff, 1924) 아속의 거대한 4종을 제외 하면, 속 내 대다수의 종들이 20-25 mm 내외의 소형 종이면서 체색 또한 수수한 편이기 때문에 수 집가들의 컬렉팅 대상으로서 선호되지는 않는 편이다. 필자는 평소 이런 점을 안타깝게 여겨오다, 본 지를 통해 속 내 비교적 쉽게 접할 수 있는 dardanus 종군의 간략한 특징과 그 매력에 대해 소개할 좋은 기회를 얻을 수 있었다. 본문에서는 먼저 (Edmonds & Zídek, 2010)에 의해 제시된 9종 가운 데 주요 종 5종을 각각 다루고, 수록되지 않은 종들의 원 기재자인 P. Arnaud의 상이한 견해를 수집 가적 관점에서 간략히 비교해 보고자 한다.

R을 이용한 기하학적 형태 분석 입문 Text link (Google Drive)
형태 분석은 다양한 목적과 방법으로 사용된다. 여러 형태 간의 관계를 찾는 것이 이 분석의 가장 주요한 목적일 것이다. 그렇다면 방법론 측면에서는 어떠한가? 형태를 기록하고 수치화해 분석하는 가장 간단한 방법은 길이를 측정하고, 비율을 계산하고, 혹은 특정 형태의 trait에 code를 부여해 비 교하는 것이다. 이런 방법이 고전적이고 간편하다면, 좀 더 우아한 방법론에는 기하학적 형태 분석 (geometric morphometrics, GM)이 있다.

상아잎벌레(Gallerucida bifasciata)의 국내 개체군에서 흑색형은 잘 알려지지 않았으나 2019년 5월 8 일 제주도 서귀포시 영남동에서 흑색형 개체들이 발견되어 이를 보고한다.

New distribution record of Polyphylla (Granida) phongsali (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae) from North Vietnam Text link (Google Drive, English)
수염풍뎅이속에 속한 Granida 아속은 아시아 지역의 10종으로 구성되어 있다. 베트남에는 P. (G.) simoni kontumensis Kobayashi & Fujioka, 2016 와 P. (G.) vietnamica 2종이 기록되었다. 본 연구는 베트남 북부에서 발견한 P. (G.) phongsali Zídek, 2006를 새로이 보고한다. 본 종의 진 단형질과 그 사진, 베트남산 Granida 아속의 검색표를 함께 제공한다.
The subgenus Granida Motschulsky, 1861 of the genus Polyphylla Harris, 1841 comprises ten species in Asia. Two species, P. (G.) simoni kontumensis Kobayashi & Fujioka, 2016 and P. (G.) vietnamica Kobayashi & Fujioka, 2016 were recorded in Vietnam. Here, distribution record of Polyphylla (Granida) phongsali Zídek, 2006 from North Vietnam is newly reported. Diagnosis, photographs of morphological characters, and taxonomic key for Polyphylla (Granida) in Vietnam are provided.

Introduction to the genus Cyclidius MacLeay, 1838 (Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae: Cremastocheilini) with consideration of potential synonymy Text link (Google Drive, English)
Cyclidius 속은 신열대구에 주로 분포하며, Cy. elongatus 를 제외한 나머지 5종은 잘 알려지지 않 았다. 본 글은 Cyclidius 속, 종에 대한 간략한 정보제공과 함께 일부 종들이 Cy. elongatus 의 동물 이명일 수 있다는 가능성을 제시한다.
The genus Cyclidius MacLeay, 1838 is primarily distributed in the Neotropical region and comprises 6 species. With the exception of the well-known Cy. elongatus (Olivier, 1789), the remaining species are poorly studied. This paper provides an introduction to the genus Cyclidius and its species while also proposing the possibility of synonymy for some of these species with Cy. elongatus .

Pictorial Key for species identification of the Cheirotonus Hope (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Melolonthinae) in Indochinese Peninsula Text link (Google Drive, English)
Cheirotonus Hope, 1840는 9종으로 구성되어 있는 딱정벌레 무리로, 인도차이나 반도에 5종이 분포한다. 인도차이나 반도에 분포하는 종의 경우 서식지가 겹치는 경우가 빈번하고, 형태적으로 유 사한 경우가 많아 외부 형태 및 서식지를 기준으로 구분하는 것에 많은 어려움이 있다. 본 문헌에서 는 인도차이나 반도에 서식하는 5종의 Cheirotonus 속 곤충을 형태적으로 구분할 수 있도록, 각 종 의 형태적 차이를 기반으로 한 사진 기반 검색표(Pictorial key)를 제공하였다.
Cheirotonus Hope, 1840 is a group of beetles comprising nine species, five of which are found in the Indochinese Peninsula. These five species often have overlapping habitats and are morphologically very similar, making it difficult to distinguish them based on external characteristics and habitat alone. This paper provides a pictorial key based on the morphological differences of each species, to enable morphological identification of the five Cheirotonus species found in the Indochinese Peninsula.
