A new Lissapterus species is described from Western Australia under the name of Lissapterus walpolensis sp. nov. Although the general morphology is similar to that of Lissotes speices, the species can be readily distinguished by its antennal shape, which is uniquely characteristic of Lissapterus.

Introduction

The flightless stag beetle genus Lissapterus was described by Deyrolle (1870). The genus is characterized by following features: male head anteriorly concave; female head narrowed compared with male; eyes entirely divided by canthi; segments of antennal club flat, smooth, and trapezoidal; elytra fused (Hangay & de Keyzer, 2017; Reid, 2019).
